SUNDAY JANUARY 21st
THE VESSEL OF THEMES
When you come to Cottonwood Gathering you have the opportunity to contribute theme ideas to the Vessel of Themes.
Write the thought onto a slip of paper, fold it in half, and drop it into the glittering Vessel.
At the end of each Gathering, someone reaches in to the vessel and pulls one of the ideas out and reads it aloud, and this then becomes the theme for the following week.
Here's what gently arose its power last Sunday:
“FACE MASKS”
A MASK conceals and reveals! Concealing the physical face, and revealing what is in the heart, mind and imagination. A Mask protects, changes the appearance, makes surprising suggestions and deceptions. I guess the word “Mask” derives from the term MASQUERADE. A Mask can be fun, loving and artful, to describe or bring forth a mood or personality or poetic whimsy.
I recently was reminded by several videos online about the CIA’s penchant for deception using Masks, for many decades developing sophisticated Mask technologies for their many “projects”, as some will remember from MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE stories on TV. Body-doubles, look-a-likes, can now be achieved by amazing rubber-like ultra-realistic masks (you have to see it to believe it!).
Creative and poetic friends Maleita Wise and Janey Evans will be leading this Cottonwood Gathering session on FACE MASKS with their research and creative examples.
