DANCE
SUNDAY JANUARY 21st
When you come to Cottonwood Gathering you have the opportunity to contribute a theme idea to the Vessel of Themes. write the thought onto a slip of paper, fold it in half, and drop it into the glittering Vessel.
At the end of each Gathering, someone reaches in to the vessel and pull one of the ideas out and reads it aloud, and this then becomes the theme for the following week.
Here's what gently arose its power last Sunday:
"DANCE"
We wiggle and we jiggle and we jump and we swing.
I like to say this behavior arose from the need for the organs of the body to keep loose and vital, not stiff and stuck. But of course there are other explanations...
Dancing is a great social ceremony with which to meet your neighbor and get some sense of their energies, and just a fun way to PLAY with the others.
Dancing stories, dreams and whimsy. I can imagine dancing leaves, dancing ufos, dancing snowflakes, dancing monsoons, dancing birds, dancing pages of poems escaped by the invisible dancing wind...
And, perhaps most importantly, dancing is a method used to focus intentions, conjure visions, with prayer in ceremony, to summon into the material world a wanted manifestation, a technology most often found in the non-“western” traditions.
