Question Authority

To question authority is often framed as disrespect, but it is not that.
To Question Authority, well, there are two main ways I understand it. For one, when I ask "How did you get to be in charge? Why should your decision be imposed on others?"  Not as a challenge, but as a clarifying question.
And the other, "what is the basis for your judgement? Is your judgement accurate? How did you come to that decision? Is there another perhaps more accurate way to understand this situation?"  Again, clarification.

I have seen people given positions of authority, enforcers of rules, or rule-makers themselves. I have seen people enjoying the feeling of righteousness over and beyond their service to others, sisters and brothers. I have seen them go into a trance of power and leave the truth far behind.

Recently I have been studying the meaning of the often-heard terms Christ and Messiah.  I was surprised when I found out both words mean the same thing, the definition is "one who has been rubbed with oil." That didn't make any sense to me, so I looked deeper.  It came from a custom long ago of anointing with oil the people who have power over others. The King, the Priest, the Prophet. They were anointed and were thereby recognized as a person with power over others.
Then Jesus came along and was declared by the people  to be "Christ, the anointed one". And the Kings and Priests and Prophets were offended by this.

But further, Jesus was teaching that ALL people have the sovereign power, the leadership within. No one is rightfully a slave. From what I can tell, this is what drew the famous downfall. Or supposed downfall.

And anyway, I realized that "Christ Consciousness" is about being Conscious that I am a sovereign leadership, just like everybody else, and we are One in this "Christ."

So I continue to contemplate this idea of Questioning Authority.

Circles of Trust... are a rare form of community - one that supports rather than supplants the individual quest for integrity - that is rooted in two basic beliefs. First, we all have an inner teacher whose guidance is more reliable than anything we can get from a doctrine, ideology, collective belief system, institution, or leader. Second, we all need other people to invite, amplify, and help us discern the inner teacher's voice.
