SUNDAY JANUARY 21st

Ego

The EGO protects me. Or it thinks it does. That's its job, after all, to keep me safe. So it spends all its time searching the Out-There for possible threats. EGO analyzes all perceptions for the possibility of discovering a threat.

The EGO loves me more than anything. Which often creates problems for me and others.

Problems from misjudgment, mischaracterization, over-"thinking".  Sometimes I believe the EGO when I think I am being wholehearted and clear. I don't recognize the EGO's role in my perception and formation of my beliefs about this or that people place or thing.

Sometimes its years later that I wake up to the awareness that I have been going down the wrong metaphorical road. Sometimes with radical drastic results. Sometimes tragic.

Should I give the EGO so much of my power?

"The ego is loudest when it believes it is alone.
It relaxes when it senses it is being listened to—whether or not it is being obeyed." - The Architect

Circles of Trust... are a rare form of community - one that supports rather than supplants the individual quest for integrity - that is rooted in two basic beliefs. First, we all have an inner teacher whose guidance is more reliable than anything we can get from a doctrine, ideology, collective belief system, institution, or leader. Second, we all need other people to invite, amplify, and help us discern the inner teacher's voice.
